This painting marks a pivotal moment in my artistic journey. It is the bridge between two groups of paintings, “Sand, Wind and Stars collection” (a proposal series for a show in London) and my more recent works inspired by the joy of springtime and new life. I moved studios from Paris Central to the Country last November. Expanded’ carries forward that cosmic curiosity while embracing a shift in composition and colour. The change of studios sparked a transformation in my palette (I was certainly influenced by the colours of nature, and I knew I was going to be traveling to New York, Texas and Mexico. My mind was already in these places, and the light in my new studio is incredible. ‘Expanded’ is the immensity of the universe meeting an explosion of color. I painted it (as I always start) on the floor with big brush strokes of colour, then adding layers with my hands, finger tips, squeegees and brushes. This painting is a segue into my new collection—an open, vibrant expression that honors the past while fully embracing the future.
